Who We Are

El Fundación para el Desarrollo del Centro Biológico las Quebradas (FUDEBIOL) was founded in 1989 in San José, Costa Rica, with the intention of increasing awareness surrounding global issues, such as climate change and environmental sustainability, and of protecting 500 hectares of Costa Rican forest from environmentally damaging and irresponsible agricultural practices that threaten the biodiversity of the ecosystem, the continued existence of various species, and the region's natural resources, such as access to clean water, that many Costa Ricans depend on.

Thirty years later, FUDEBIOL protects 75 hectares of forest, actively teaches students out of a schoolhouse devoted to environmental education, has a flourishing volunteer program, is critical in providing clean water to tens of thousands of people living in the Quebradas area, and provides a safe haven for countless species of animals, insects, birds, and plants to thrive.
